Family-Friendly Comfort
The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful, which really made us feel at home during our stay. We had this amazing breakfast that was just perfect after a long day, it was so fresh and plentiful, didn't want to leave the table.
It wasn't cheap, but for what you get, it was acceptable.

central spot for exploring nearby parks and military history
I loved staying here because it's just a short walk to Bitts Park and only a bit further to the Cumbria's Museum of Military Life, making it easy to explore and enjoy some lovely green spaces during my stay as a single traveler.

great stay but missed the food
The welcome was warm and friendly, making me feel valued right from the start. I requested a quiet room, which resulted in a lovely free upgrade to an en-suite double bedroom.
Sadly, I missed out on the dining experience due to my arrival time.

The location was quite nice, providing access to the countryside and was good for cycling out of the city. Although it was a bit remote and required some walking, I appreciated the quiet surroundings and the quality of the room. The Vallum House offers a warm atmosphere with attentive staff and delicious meals. the decor feels outdated, and the shower had some cleanliness issues, with black mould present. The location is a bit far from the city center, but overall, it’s a cozy and friendly spot.

I had a single room that was just okay but felt a bit squeezed. The decor definitely had a retro vibe, almost like stepping back in time. The bed was decent for the night, though not super spacious. The shared bathroom situation was a bit of a letdown, especially when it came to cleanliness. It could have used some serious attention. it was a quick stay, not awful but not amazing either.
